New Year CAS Card 3

This is my third and final new year CAS Card. I came across this quote on net and decided to use it for Card.I have used water color paper as card base.

I drew the image taking reference from net ,as I haven't seen a cocoon with butterfly in real.Colored it with water color pencils and used black marker for detailing.

New Year CAS card

Front View
Today I have a CAS card to share with you all.Usually I create a card and then add a suitable sentiment at last but this time I selected a sentiment first and built the card design around it.This card is totally inspired by Sanketi's card making Style. She creates Awesome cards by combining stamping and water coloring .Each time I visit her blog I am amazed by the way she creates scenes with different stamps and brings it to life with her coloring , paired with perfect sentiments .

side view
I have used water color paper as base for this card.Images are hand drawn and I have used water color pencils to color them.Sentiment hand written ( which is not difficult to guess ;) ).Tell me how did you like CAS effort of mine .

Card front
I am happy that finally I have something to share on my blog which has been neglected a lot this month .I love to play along Technique Time Tuesday Challenges but could not for last few challenges  and this was perfect month to catch up as this month we have to choose from any past techniques.

Side view
I choose Bargello technique  Mynnette has shared a detailed tutorial here.I have made a card with this technique earlier with some variation. This time followed the tutorial as it is.

Other side view
I had planned to use the bargello pattern as base layer and then load it with embellishments, but as I finished gluing the strips ,I loved its look and decided to keep it as main focus of card.

How is this romantic tent ?? Before you wonder what is it..let me tell you its a big pop-up card (7x7) !!
I  love pop-up cards and I am constantly searching for techniques n tutorials (Often ending up on same blogs ..any guess ??) and still you don't see many pop-up cards on my blog :(  As only making a pop-up is not enough, to make it look complete a scene is needed around it and I find it very difficult.I really admire how Dr.Sonia builds lovely scenes in her pop-up cards. And my next source of inspiration is Anna-Karin, her pop-up cards have fabulous scenes and bgs created by stamping ,texture paste n even acetate !!

Now to my card..

A top view

I made a hexagonal tent with a roof used guaze for curtains and a frilly lace to make it more romantic.Scored horizontal lines on roof for some texture.

side views..

Talking of scene I only added lamp posts around the tent.Used paper pieced roses from a pp and dried leaves for decoration. It has table n chairs in it too..not visible clearly ??.. no probs..

I took this snap before attaching the tent.

And this is the card front..(I know, not so impressive)I have used red satin ribbon and the big white panel has some texture with tissue and a lace, flowers n some paper pieced roses.

The large flowers are made using faux-silk technique.I have kept the die cut label blank as this card can be gifted on wedding as well as Anniversary so it can be added accordingly !

Vintage with faux -silk Technique

Hello Friends !! How are you all ? My blog has been quiet for a while as I am not crafting much this month.I have a card to share today.

I have stained the tissue with coffee concoction ,crumpled the tissue and glued it to card base to achieve the faux-silk look. For the three panels I wrote some script on coffee stained tissue and then used them.Added a layer of corrugated cardboard piece stained with coffee.

I drew the bird very gently on tissue and colored lightly with water color pencils and then glued it on a base .After the glue was completely dry I colored it again( shading n detailing ) and paper pieced it.

Similarly for the tree trunk n leaves I colored the tissue first glued it to base n the cut the shape.Almost everything on this card except for corrugated piece is faux-silk.I am not much fond of brown and so find it difficult to work with this color. Do tell me if you like my attempt !

Whats reused here ?
I have used paper from invite(plane side)from my stash as base for panels ,bird ,tree trunk n leaves. The cream colored paper is also from invite and the corrugated piece is striped off from packaging.

Diwali Bloghop 2013

Hello friends !! Welcome to Diwali Bloghop organized by Chaitali , We  will be sharing Diwali themed projects with you to make your diwali even more exciting  ! I am very happy to be part o this blog hop, all thanks to Chaitali ! I have a paper lantern to share, which I have made for this Diwali.

This one is my second attempt.Taking inspiration from here I made a carousel shaped paper lantern(cylindrical)  complete with roof n danglers and  as I was about to tie it,it looked as if someone had kicked it  :( !! No matter how much support I gave for stiffness..it went from bad to worst !!

To be on safer side I made a rectangular carousel(I know rather unusual !!).Instead of using just chart paper n kite paper I also used packing cardboard so now the base structure (similar to a box with windows) is very sturdy . I have hand drawn the horses and did the cutting, all sides are similar. .here is how it looks in daylight .

Its a Diwali bolg hop so how can it be without gifts?? The blog hop is  sponsored by There She Goes and you can win Henna Swirls stamp set.All you have to do is hop along each stop and leave comment on the bloghop post and Chaitali will pick 2 lucky winners from comments left on all our blogs , You have until 9 PM EST, November 8 2013 to comment on the blogs !You must have a arrived from Deepti's blog  if not here is the complete bloghop list

Using up tiny paper scraps

Hello crafty bloggers ! How are you all ? busy with Diwali preparations ? Today I have something easy peasy to share with you.

How are the flowers ? Nice ? You will like them more when I tell you how I made them .
Usually I make roses and other paper flower by folding square n circle piece of chart paper n then cutting the shape out of them, as a result I am left with tiny paper scraps like these..they are hardly 1cm wide.

Like a good hoarder I keep them in a plastic bag thinking some day I will use them in some way, with the bag full now I had only two options throw it or use it.How could I throw such pretty tiny scraps SO used it n the easiest way was to make flowers(what a unique Idea :D !!) These scraps do not have any perfect shape so I sorted the pieces n I embossed the bigger ones.

I used a small circle as base to attach the petals.

glued some more layers of dark colored petals inside the outer layer. For the center I glued the spiky pieces, you can use pollen, pearls, flower soft ..any thing you like. Here is the complete flower.

I hope I have inspired you to use those tiny scraps you have been hoarding for long :)

Shaker Snowglobe Card

Shaker Snow-globe card
Hello friends ! Sharing a shaker snow globe card today .Any guesses what the snow is  ?? ( hint : Its not cotton :) )

Front view
The reindeer is hand drawn and cut from a silver glitter sheet and so are the small trees in the snow globe.I haven't glued the snow completely so you can play with the snow just by shaking it :) Only problem is the snow gets stuck to the coarse glitter ..so you will have to spend few more minutes shaking the card to keep the reindeer clean ...:)

I have tied a bow around the globe and decorated it with dries leaves, berries n bells. This card has base  layered with pp and the snow-globe has few more layers(3 to be exact !) ,the snap below gives the idea of layers.I took the snap before placing the globe.

in process image

Now lets open the card. You can clearly see leaves n bow over the edge of card in this snap.

card inside
Lots of paper piecing. The Christmas tree is cut from glitter paper and colored with memento ink(which is not much visible :( ), decorated it with some gold glitter strips. The gift boxes and baubles are paper pieced from pps.

drew some spots with blue glitter pen ,some hand-cut pine trees.I have glued some snow.( did you guess ? ) OK..Let me tell :)
I have grated thick white handmade sheet to make the snow .Got the idea here

I have also made a coordinating box for the card.

card n box
Now the interesting part..

reused materials
I have used small steel grater to make the snow, reused cookies tray for the globe, fruit packing net for bow and made the berries n bells with glittery chocolate wrappers.

Supplies:
Memento ink ,glitter paper from Itsy Bitsy
