Inspired by henna

Front View
As the title suggests ,design on this card is inspired by Indian Henna designs. Made this card for Challenge set by Indira as part of Mega celebration on her blog Arty Sorts, the challenge is to make a new year card and use Indian motif/ motifs on it.I went very traditional way :)

Cone painting
For the panel I combined cone painting and loose water coloring . I made a paste using ceramic powder, white glue and white acrylic paint and filled it in a plastic cone, just like henna cones and then drew the design on water color paper.

side view
After it dried completely I did some loose coloring with yellow water color and Lindy's Stamp Gang  mist- Ramblin Rose bud  attached the water colored panel on shaped card base with foam Tape.

side view
Drew the sentiment on vellum with same cone and after it dried attached it to the panel.Colors on the are inspired by current Runway Inspired Challenge - ric #74 Escada

Sunny Box & Tag set

Sunflowers again ;) Not on card this time !! Before I show more, lets see how it all started.

Up-cycled box & tag

I have up-cycled a rectangular packaging box.It had bright yellow n red colors on it.I continued the same bright color scheme .After two layers of packaging tissue and coats of acrylic color,I created some patterns through stencil and acrylic colors randomly on all sides and top.I had sun and sunflowers in mind .I made the sunrays using pink burlap and colored it with acrylic colors.I did trial stamping on back of an invitation card with different inks, DI(scattered straw),yellow n orange pigment inks and later watercolored them.SO each flower looks different ;). Colored the lower part of the box with brown color to resemble ground and for the flowers to stand out.Can you guess what I have used at the base for texture ?

Gif showing all sides of box

Roasted (rather over roasted/burnt rice grains) !!

Box top
For the top I used strips of washi tape then layered jute, gauze ,handcut ticket frame coated with glitter ,twigs and a chipboard monogram.

Sunny Tag
I had this brand tag from another project on which I had smeared leftover texture paste.Kept the design similar to the box .Used thick twine to create sun and then colored with acrylic colors.Stamped sunflowers were big for the tag so I drew smaller ones.
Tag lying flat
All the words are written on leftover strips of paper.Colored them with pencil colors and inked the edges with red pigment ink.

To Brighten you

Front View
Hello friends ! Hope you all are crafting and doing good :) My apologies for not replying to comments and queries on my posts,I was traveling last few days ,so away from home, crafting and blogging.
Now to my card , I had stamped and colored the sunflowers before leaving but could not complete the card and it has been sitting unfinished for 15 Days .I am glad that finally I managed to compete  it :)

Side View
The stamp is "Sketched sunflowers" from Stamplorations and I have followed one of the technique from  Online card class - No line coloring and combined it with usual shading technique. It involves stamping the image with light ink so the lines are not visible and then coloring it.I have used regular water color pencils for coloring.

Layering on card
The sunrays are also colored using water color pencils.I layered a white textured handmade paper on card base followed by olive colored textured paper for grass/leaves and then the paper pieced sunflowers. The center flower is adhered using foam tape for dimension.Finished off the card with handwritten sentiment.

I would like to Thank Sherry (owner of Stamplorations) for such Beautiful Giveaway .Hope you like it !

For a special friend

Front View
Hello back again with a layered and brightly colored card !
The blue and pink panels were created using watercolors.I followed a very fun technique shared here.I have used the peacock feather stencil (from Imaginarium) as stamp (reverse stenciling) to create the central panel.Used a mix of watercolors, acrylic color and Distress Ink on the stencil and placed a card-stock over it..The results are always interesting with this technique.

Side View
I have matted each panel on white card stock and layered one above the other.Used a sentiment label (RAK from Deepti Stephens). I have also used bright pink burlap piece and a glitter paper strip to add some texture.

Music Lover - Redone

Music lover redone
Looks familiar ?? Yes you have seen it earlier :)
I have redone the card that I made for Lulupu GD post.(Original post) I felt the bg was too busy and was taking the focus away from headphone n words.

Music lover Original

So I carefully removed the watercolored panel from base and used its backside (no waste). As I had used very less foam tape It was minorly damaged.I could easily cover it with washi tapes.Gently removed the headphone image and the alphabet stickers strips.
Music lover redone
Then painted circles of varying sizes with light blue water color, drew a mobile with black marker and adhered the fussy cut head phones over it.The stickers looked lighter n needed something dark to lift them up ,So I used red card-stock to mat them.Glued the larger alphabets directly on the panel.Scribbled some music types on tissue paper and made a washi tape out of it (tutorial here) and adhered it around the headphone.

Now the card looks more CAS WHat do you think ? Which one is better ?

Chalkboard Style Birthday Card

Card Front
Hello crafty friends n bloggers I am back with a card again :) no surprise !

I know chalkboard style was a trend long back ! I had loved it and recent challenges made me try it finally .
Rather than heat embossing or stamping with white ink.I used even more easy way..paining/drawing with white acrylic color using a thin painting brush :) Did need  bit of practice .. I was happy to use up all the black paper scraps from my stash.

Side view
For the background I used a stencil n watercolor on watercolor paper.I combined two techniques from Online Card class(Ok I messed first one ) for the effect.Adhered the watercolored panel on handmade cardbase and sentiment panel over it with foam tape.

Guest Desiging for Lulupu

Side View

Hello Friends!  I am very happy to share my contribution as GD for Lulupu’s Current challenge .Thanks to Karuna and Lulupu Team for this honor. Jaya has challenges us to create anything as long as it has minimum 3 Washi tape along with a Geometric shape/Ready-made embellishment. I have had washi tapes that Yvonne has sent me since long and never used it properly and had it not been for this challenge I they still won’t have seen light of the day! Thanks for this interesting theme Jaya :)

Front View

I made this card with a “music lover” in mind . I am hooked to drawing n fussy cutting images for cards these days So, started with drawing the headphone and fussy cut it keeping mobile/iPod shaped window in center, decorated it with hounds tooth washi tape. For the background I used water color paper and painted circles freehand with water colors and outlined with blue gel pen, drew the phone/iPod and outlined with black gel pen, stamped music notes in light blue memento ink and used music notes washi tape to go with the theme. Popped the earphone with foam tape on water colored panel and adhered the panel on handmade card base with foam Tape. I used alphabet stickers for words and matted them on washi tape Strips.

I  was eager to use the Mini Distress Ink Kit I received from Lulupu .The colors are lovely and I made another card using scattered straw and spun sugar DI.

Front View
The bokeh background is created using stencil and Mini Distress Inks. I have used peach colored handmade paper for card base. How are the flowers ?

Side View
Sharing a small pictorial to create these washi tape flowers, dahlia fold style. I had seen such flowers with pattern paper .Here I used washi tape to create my own pattern paper.

Steps to create Washi tape flowers
The sentiment is hand cut from thick paper, coated with glue , covered it with Martha stewart loose glitter  and sealed with Sakura Gloss medium. Adhered it on a Vellum Strip.
