Hello Friends ! Today I have a card to share which is made for soon to be engaged couple.(Though it looks quiet  girly ,its for couple :). Its a square card (4.25 * 4.25)

I have used two envelopes for this card ,how ? let me show you..

Envelopes used
First one is a mail envelope I have used its transparent window for the shaker window ,(Ya its a shaker card :) !)and second one is an invite envelope ,I have cut it open and used the plain side to make bg along with remaining part of first envelope.Talking of bg ,I tried new technique Shaving Foam Technique for creating it. An interesting technique to created marbled pattern paper.

steps to create marbled pattern with shaving foam
Spread shaving  foam ,splash some colors (I have used acrylic colors), make pattern with a toothpick, press the paper over it and lift, remove the foam and tada.. you have a custom made pp ! You can find a detailed tutorial on Technique Time Tuesday blog by Karen .
This card  for engagement(ring ceremony) how does it indicate that ?? Lets open it.

One more new to me Technique Twirl Pop-up ,Its very easy but fun technique (tutorial). When you open the card the hearts actually twril .

I made videos to show the  twirl mechanism in action but all turned shaky .So I will describe it (You can watch the card n action in tutorial linked above). Do you see the thread/string tied to the stick in center ? Its wound around the stick 2,3 times before attaching it to the base,so When card is opened the string gets pulled which in turn rolls the stick and the hearts twirl !

Made the rings with golden thread and some bling. The words are handwritten (as if u didn't guess !)Thread from old rakhi and the sequins too.

Lets come to the front again ,I tried one more new thing Calla lilies following  Dr.Sonia's tutorial.I used ceramic powder mixed with white glue for stamen and rolled it in coarse rangoli powder for texture. The leaves n calla lilies are cut from handmade paper and I have inked them slightly with memento dye inks.

And now Special Thanks to two of  my lovely friends
Yvonne for the twine and Deepti for the sentiment label.

Happy Anniversary

Anniversary card
Hello creative Friends !! How are you ? busy with V-day ..cards n projects ;)  I have an Anniversary card to share with you all today and guess what I have used two love birds to convey the hearty wishes :) !

Lets start from the start .Here is how I made the background.

I started with a textured paper. Its result of my failed attempt to make fiber texture paste (tutorial). The paste did not turn out smooth n creamy, rather than throwing it away I spread the paste on paper and kept it for future use. Then I misted diluted acrylic colors (blue ,pink n purple) through hand cut stencil. Then splashed some color, made some circle using empty thread spool. The bg looked quite dark so gave a coat of gesso(white glue + acrylic paint) to tone it down and painted small hearts on it .Then sanded its edges and tore it at few places.

When I searched for felt fabric in our local market what I got was close resembling fabric "Flannel". Both are wool fabric, felt is non-woven and flannel woven.I thought of giving it a try and used the fabric to make embellishments.

cut outs from scrap paper and branch covered with jute twine
I drew  birds, branches and heart on thick paper and cut them out. Then covered the branches with jute twine.I wanted the birds and heart to look some what fluffy like soft toys.So I glued some sponge( thin one from packaging) first and then the fabric ,colored them slightly.I have used rhinestone for eyes. The flowers and leaves are also cut from flannel fabric.

For decorating inner side of card I used the paper on which I tried the bg first ,I have layered packing tissue over it to make it dull .

All the paper used except the card base are from old invites. Plain sides can be used for making bg,layering and cutting base of embellishments.Do tell me what you think of the card  :).
Special Thanks to Yvonne  for the wonderful goodies ! I have tied the heart with bird's beak using twine she sent me .
