Watercoloring fever continues

Newest installment in the water colored floral series! These magnolia flowers are best for no-line coloring due to their large size and lot of open spaces.

Started by stamping the flowers and leaves with light distress ink on watercolor paper then drew branches and a half open bud. Then colored them with distress inks, I went overboard with the veins on petals that they looked liked striped petals! I had to blend them with another layer of color. Highlights were all okay but the shadows are what bought the flowers to life! I used water color brush pens for it, they are so concentrated and the brush tip make it easy to apply it in nooks & crannies (Kathy’s term ;))

Backed the watercolored panel with a piece of fun foam and adhered it on card base and stamped the sentiment.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Magnolias for her, Charmed (Altenew)
Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Picked raspberry, festive berries
Akashiya Sai Brush pens
Versafine onyx black ink

Sunny Daffodils !

I am still hooked with water-coloring flowers :) It was on my list to color a daffodil since long. I found it difficult to color, being such a bright color that is yellow how does one add highlights to it? And  shadows brown or grey ?

All the images I searched showed the petals to be very light almost translucent .I used distress inks for watercoloring .My first trial turned out very bad,I used grey for shadow and it didn’t look nice. For this card I went with brown. It is still very far from looking real but at least not very bad!

The flowers are small I think I should have stamped some more of them .what do you think ?

Guest Designing for The Twisted Challenges #3

Hello friends! Today I am sharing the card I made as Guest designer for The Twisted Challenge #3 Go bold+ Replace me.This month the team has challenged us to create a project with bold sentiment and the twist is to replace an alphabet with an image, Ian’ t that interesting ? I searched my stamps to see if any image fits to replace an alphabet and found not one but many and as usual went for flowers ;) (No surprise!)

Do the tulips look like Os? The words are handwritten taking reference from MS Word. I spent quite some time coloring the tulips and adding details, ended up losing the natural look:(

The white space was too much that the card looked incomplete so made up with few splatters and sequins. Used parquet stencil to create the pattern on card base.
I hope I have inspired you to join this challenge and play along you have entire month to do so ! Get your creative juices flowing :)

Supplies used:
Clear stamps: In Bloom: Addie’s garden (Winnie & Walter)
Stencil: Parquet (Neat & Tangled)
Distress Inks:  Spun Sugar, festive berries, fired bricks, wild honey

Birthday Card for her

Hello friends! Today’s card is based on current “Color Throwdown Challenge” which happens to be their 500th challenge! I had the exact patterned paper matching the cue colors.

Card design is simple with gold embossed and water colored flowers with few sequins ,sentiment on a vellum strip. I smooshed some navy blue on white panel to tie the design together.

It turned out rather busy than I had envisioned it! Lesson learnt, need care while using a pattern paper with bold designs!

Stamps: Magnolias for her (Altenew),doodled flowers(PABD)
Inks:versamark watermark ink,Gold Embossing powder(Ranger)

CASEing STAMPlorations Girl once again !

I was inspired by this beautiful card by Helen Gullett .

I created the background by smooshing black & grey ink on the card base and then stamping the text lightly. I choose two circular frames and layered the flowers on them.

How did you like my take on Helen’s card?

Thanks for dropping by my blog today .

Revisiting a technique

Few years back when I started craft blogging I religiously followed a Challenge blog “Technique Time Tuesday” run by Mynette Kitchen. Each challenge introduced me to a new technique and being a newbie, it benefited me immensely .One of the technique I learned was “Brick wall technique/Brick tile technique”, which I have used for today’s card. My previous card with this technique can be found here .

I also followed the layout of this wonderful card designed by Julie Beech for STAMPlorations. My initial plan of no line coloring went astray as I choose dark color for stamping the sunflowers. That led to even more dark colors for shadows and outlines.

After I was done with water coloring with distress inks and the panel was dry I flipped it and cut into squares, inked the edges and glued them on another panel. It was like solving a jigsaw puzzle!

Finished off the card with a gold embossed sentiment on vellum and supporting one on a strip of cardstock.

Supplies used:
Stamps-  Sketched Sunflower (STAMPlorations), Wising you with Eveline T Designs(Winnie& Walter)
Inks :Mustard seeds, scattered straw, wild honey Distress Inks,Jet black Archival Ink,Versamark watermark ink,
Rangers Gold embossing Powder

CASEing Shery

Back to forals ! STAMPlorations is celebrating its 5th Birthday and we have a chance to join in the party by CASEing one of the designers .

I loved many cards shared by the team and was particularly drawn towards this card by Sherry (owner of STAMPlorations). She creates Awesome one layered cards and I love her style.

Mine is neither monochromatic nor one layered. Rather than copying it as it is I have varied it slightly.

I have tried this technique of coloring flowers with grid many times( on thisthis and this card) only difference is that  I have a grid stamp now .
The sentiment is from two different stamp sets.Do tell me me if you like this card .Thanks for the visit.

Supplies used :
Stamps : Classic Calla Lilies(STAMPlorations),Bloom together(Studio Katia),Doodled blooms(Jane’s doodle),pixels (Mudra)

Inspired by Mini Album !

Lately I have been pinning lot of mini album on my pin board, I just love the use of graphics, embossing, vellum, stitching and most the light organic water color look! So you get what’s the inspiration behind today’s card .Its a mini (3*4) gate fold card.

I went for cool color scheme, inspired by the beach/ocean (My interpretation of holidays, ideal summer vacation!)Distress Ink swooshing on bg  followed by light stamping. Stitched the vellum piece and decorated with embellishments.I found a perfect U pin in my stash , doesn't it look like a star fish ?

This is how I have tied the sentiments with birthday theme.A bit hurried attempt at writing the sentiment.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Tim holtz cling stamp set, pixel set(Mudra),numbers rubber stamp
