Revisiting a technique

Few years back when I started craft blogging I religiously followed a Challenge blog “Technique Time Tuesday” run by Mynette Kitchen. Each challenge introduced me to a new technique and being a newbie, it benefited me immensely .One of the technique I learned was “Brick wall technique/Brick tile technique”, which I have used for today’s card. My previous card with this technique can be found here .

I also followed the layout of this wonderful card designed by Julie Beech for STAMPlorations. My initial plan of no line coloring went astray as I choose dark color for stamping the sunflowers. That led to even more dark colors for shadows and outlines.

After I was done with water coloring with distress inks and the panel was dry I flipped it and cut into squares, inked the edges and glued them on another panel. It was like solving a jigsaw puzzle!

Finished off the card with a gold embossed sentiment on vellum and supporting one on a strip of cardstock.

CASEing Shery

Back to forals ! STAMPlorations is celebrating its 5th Birthday and we have a chance to join in the party by CASEing one of the designers .

I loved many cards shared by the team and was particularly drawn towards this card by Sherry (owner of STAMPlorations). She creates Awesome one layered cards and I love her style.

Mine is neither monochromatic nor one layered. Rather than copying it as it is I have varied it slightly.

I have tried this technique of coloring flowers with grid many times( on thisthis and this card) only difference is that  I have a grid stamp now .
The sentiment is from two different stamp sets.Do tell me me if you like this card .Thanks for the visit.

Supplies used :
Stamps : Classic Calla Lilies(STAMPlorations),Bloom together(Studio Katia),Doodled blooms(Jane’s doodle),pixels (Mudra)
Inks :Jet Black Archival Ink
Water colors : Akashiya watercolor brush pens

Inspired by Mini Album !

Lately I have been pinning lot of mini album on my pin board, I just love the use of graphics, embossing, vellum, stitching and most the light organic water color look! So you get what’s the inspiration behind today’s card .Its a mini (3*4) gate fold card.

I went for cool color scheme, inspired by the beach/ocean (My interpretation of holidays, ideal summer vacation!)Distress Ink swooshing on bg  followed by light stamping. Stitched the vellum piece and decorated with embellishments.I found a perfect U pin in my stash , doesn't it look like a star fish ?

This is how I have tied the sentiments with birthday theme.A bit hurried attempt at writing the sentiment.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Tim holtz cling stamp set, pixel set(Mudra),numbers rubber stamp
Inks: Versamark embossing ink, jet black archival Ink, Cracked pistachio & peacock feathers Distress Ink.

Beautiful moments

For it’s the little moments that matter most!
Yet another card for guys well not pure masculine ! It can be gifted to anyone. Along with non floral stamps I also wanted to use colored cardstock. Ended up inking it to make it look bright!

Used the pixels stamp (apt name!) to create a grid on the background and the camera image is heat embossed on vellum.

I recently found few embellishments which I had for years .Used them to decorate this card. Would love to now If you like this card !

Supplies used :
Stamps : Tim holtz cling stamp,Pixels clear stamp(Mudra)

You Rock !

I love to watercolor color and I often reach for my floral stamp for doing so .Which results in very less (almost none) masculine cards. Time to create some and show some love to non-floral stamp from my stash!

I followed a sketch for this card. Started by heat embossing the image on vellum and then layered it on a ink smooshed paper scrap. For the background I went with strips (equaliser ,some effort to relate it with musical theme) I guess rainbow strips would have looked better !What do you think ?

Supplies used :
Stamps : Rock it(Visible image), Strips 2(Winnie & Walter ), Mix Mash (Happy little Stamper )
Inks : Black archival Ink,clear embossing powder,Twisted citron & peacock feathers  Distress Ink
